DR. WENDY PARDIAC
Naturopathic Doctor
At 18 years old I studied graphic design at York University in Toronto and eventually switched to marine biology at 21. I was so sure marine biology was my passion that I moved all the way to Australia near the Great Barrier Reef in Townsville! Turns out it wasn’t what I had always hoped and I moved home, dejected. I ventured into Massage Therapy at 24 years young after graduating from the University of Guelph and wondered if perhaps human mechanics and biology was my future career. Funny enough, I ended up being an RMT for 8 years. I was in for one more surprise as I learned about Naturopathic Medicine, worked along Doctors and became curious about my own health issues. This curiosity eventually led me to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor myself, where I really met my talents. Now I blend science, intuition, and problem-solving to help people reclaim their health in a way that feels sustainable and empowering. This is what makes me happy.
What inspired you to pursue naturopathic medicine?
I know firsthand what it’s like to feel dismissed in healthcare. When I faced my own struggles, I was pushed aside, left searching for answers on my own. That experience completely changed how I practice today. Healing myself made me realize there was so much more to the story and our health isn’t just about symptoms; it’s about patterns, history, and how all the pieces fit together. It’s also important to me that my patients feel seen and heard. They know their body and more often than not, there’s a good reason they don’t feel right.
How has your own health journey shaped your approach to care?
I love…. when things fall into place. I love when I get a visit and my patient finally got pregnant. I love when my patients go from feeling like a 2/10 to a 7/10 most days. I love when mom’s say they have more patience with their kids and spouse. When dad’s lose 30lbs and gain 10lbs in muscle. I love when my patient who’s always sick notices, for the first time, they haven’t been sick all year. Or when a patient post-cancer treatment is starting to feel themselves again. It means so much to me to see my patients thrive, and I take it to heart if we’re not seeing the results we had hoped… but the important thing is that we don’t give up, because everyone has a version of “healthy” and I just want to honour that.
What do you love most about your work?
I once trained for and competed in a bodybuilding competition for my 30th birthday! It was one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences I’ve ever had, teaching me so much about discipline, nutrition, and how the body adapts to different demands. I also love a good fiction book (or writing my own) and deep-dive into personal growth content, people like Joe Dispenza, Steven Bartlett, Ali Abdaal, and James Clear are some of my go-to influences.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I prioritize movement, but in a way that feels good rather than forced. Some days that means lifting weights, other days it’s just getting outside for a walk. I think it’s important for me to take my “Doctor Wendy” hat off and just be me, sometimes that means journaling, watching Harry Potter on a rainy fall evening, or listening to a podcast that get’s me thinking. Growth is something I truly value, and I believe wellness isn’t just about what we eat or how we move, it’s also about how we feed our minds and spirits.
What’s a personal health or wellness practice that’s important to you?
It depends on what I need that day! Sometimes, it’s hitting the gym or stepping outside for fresh air. Other times, it’s curling up with my cat, Coco, and getting lost in a thought-provoking podcast or book. I also love experimenting in the kitchen, and force-feeding my family as many new healthy recipes I can find on Instagram.
How do you like to recharge after a busy day?
Give me a buzz.
